Math:
We will be finishing up our shapes and measurement unit in
the next week. Your child should be familiar with these shapes: square, rectangle, quadrilateral, triangle,
pentagon, and hexagon. We have been busy
estimating and finding the actual measurement with objects around the
classroom. Yesterday we measured ourselves,
then made a line plot with our findings.
Reading;
We continue learning about non-fiction books. This week we will determine what is important
by identifying the main idea and supporting details. When we read we are learning to practice
asking questions like: What is this part
mostly about? What have I learned so
far? What is this part telling me?
* Continue to read every night. It is suggested your child read 20 minutes a
night.
Writing:
We began learning how to write an “All About” books. This week we are learning how to plan out our
writing by coming up with different chapters and headings. Next week we will be learning how to write
different non-fiction chapters for our story.
Can you brainstorm with your child on topics they know all about, what
are they experts on and what could they teach the class?
Social Studies: We
continue to learn how to read and draw maps.
Bible:
We continue to study and learn about the Miracles of
Jesus. I will be gradually be emailing you
your child’s imovie they created on his/her ipads. This is our first attempt at using this
app. J Later this week we will begin to study The
Parables of Jesus. Jesus told these
parables to teach the people about the nature of His kingdom.
