Math:
We will begin our unit on two-digit subtraction with and
without regrouping. Your child will
learn two methods for solving two-digit subtraction-expanded method and ungroup
first method. Your child may use any one
of these methods that they understand, can explain, and can do fairly
quickly. In explaining any methods,
your child is expected to use the “tens and ones’ language.
Math homework due Friday.
This paper went home on Friday due to a short week this week).
Writing:
Last week we planned out our ‘All About’ books. Your child organized all that they know and
created chapters and heading for their books.
This week we will learn how to write facts using numbers, names, and
sizes.
Reading:
We continue to learn more and more about non-fiction
books. This week we will focus on the
author’s message. Why did the author
write this non-fiction book?
Continue to hand in any Idita-Read reading minutes.
Bible:
We continue to study the Parables of Jesus. Last week we learned the parable of the
mustard seed and yeast. These two
parables point to the small beginning of the kingdom of God and the tremendous
growth what will follow. We also learned
how Jesus should be an integral part of all areas of your life.
As a class, we made bread to show how a little bit of yeast can work through the bread dough can make the bread expand and get bigger and bigger. Our classroom smelled yummy on Tuesday while we cooked the bread. Look at some of us enjoying the homemade bread!
